TAE40110 alumni, Elaine Vermeulen: Her training journey…
Say a big hello and congratulations to our Student of the Month Elaine Vermeulen! Elaine is a loyal and hard-working member of the Rose Training family and we are so pleased that she was able to take some time out of her busy schedule to speak with us. Elaine began her Rose Training journey with a Cert IV in TAE (TAE40110). It was this TAE40110 that opened the training doors for Elaine, who then went on to complete a Cert IV in Celebrancy, LLN, a Diploma in Project Management and an RPL in Frontline Management. Have a read of Elaine’s Rose Training experiences below!
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your educational journey!
I trained as a nurse in Durban, South Africa and have been married for 34 years. I have a son Christopher, who works as a fleet manager and Chantal, who is a registered nurse. My real educational journey started last year when I decided it was time to do something for myself, as my children were all grown up. I enrolled for my TAE40110 course with Rose Training and since that day, the journey has not stopped. The study bug well and truly got hold of me. I loved being part of the Saturday group with Libby our trainer, and had such fun that I decided to enrol in the Cert IV in Celebrancy course. I met so many new people and had such fun, my tummy used to ache at the end of each day from laughing. The training was brilliant and informative. My daughter Chantal and I then did the additional LLN component of the TAE40110 and that was also a lot of fun. Julia made the day very exciting and interactive. PresCare, my employer, then decided that 5 of the managers could do the Diploma in Project Management. We learnt so much from Graham and as managers from different areas within PresCare, we really got to know each other well. Needless to say, we had to come back to work and execute our project plans. Mine went off well and I am sure the others were also successful. I have managed to do RPL for my Cert IV in Frontline Management because of all the other training that I have received to date and now boast with 4 new certificates on my wall at home. My family and colleagues have since completed many courses with Rose Training.

What led you to start your journey at Rose Training with a TAE40110?
I found the information on the web and the first call I made to Rose Training was professional, timely and easy-going. The people at Rose Training are sincere, honest and some of the very nicest people I have ever met.
Tell us about the courses you have done with us and why you decided to do them. How have they helped you become the person you are today, professionally?
I did the Celebrancy course for myself as I would like to be a part of people`s lives. If possible, the happy parts of life but also the supporting part in someone`s life who is experiencing grief and pain. As a Celebrant you can fill many of those areas in life.
What motivated you to single-handedly organise a 9-person Frontline Management course? What skills did you need to achieve this task?
I personally believe that when you have a 2ic in the work place, and expect them to step up to the mark during your absence, you owe it to them to provide the skills and training that will allow them to perform their duties to the best of their ability. Pam, my 2ic, attended the course and I am amazed at the self confidence that she has gained as the 2ic of the PresCare Day Therapy Centre. Pam presented a PowerPoint presentation to the staff of the Day Therapy Centre and our CEO, Mr Greg Skelton. She did such a great job and Greg was really impressed with the quality of information that Pam delivered. I also know that the other managers are so proud of the professional growth of the staff, since they completed the Frontline Management course.
“The skills that I have gained through all of the additional education that I have received during the past 16 months will enable me to plan, promote and manage the best centre in South Brisbane.”
What is your dream career and what goals do you have in place to get there?
To have the best Day Therapy Centre that any organisation could ever have. The skills that I have gained through all of the additional education that I have received during the past 16 months will enable me to plan, promote and manage the best centre in South Brisbane. If it wasn’t for the new knowledge that I have gained, and the commitment and skill set of the staff, none of this would have been possible. I am confident that we will be the shining star of PresCare now and in the future.
Would you and for what particular reasons would you recommend Rose Training to your friends and family?
I am the biggest fan of Rose Training. I have referred my family, PresCare staff and personal friends to Rose Training because of the high standard of training that is provided. The trainers are professional, caring, accommodating, and only a phone call away. The training is scheduled and delivered to suit all people at levels of understanding. I have found the courses to be affordable and the facility to be in easy access to public transport. I will always recommend Rose Training to everybody that I know and I am proud of being a part of the Rose Training alumni.
Thank you and congratulations to Elaine once again! Your determination and motivation and has definitely paid off and we are very proud of your achievements.
