As a funeral celebrant, your role will be to provide an individualised service that reflects the personality, and commemorates the life of the deceased. After successfully completing Rose Training Australia’s funeral celebrancy course, students are equipped to conduct personalised funerals, and to support families during their time of loss.

Rose Training Australia’s Funeral Services training is designed for students who

  • would like to perform funeral ceremonies,
  • are interested in understanding the process of the funeral service,
  • would like to learn how to personalise and design meaningful funerals or tributes.

The Funeral Services training program comprises a unit of competence, which can be covered in two days (plus homework, you have 6 months to complete the course). On successful completion, you will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment. For registered Marriage Celebrants this counts towards your yearly OPD requirements.

Our philosophy to training is one of assisting the learner to reach their goals in a way that is as stress free as possible.

The course can be studied in 2 different deliveries, with a Blended option which is a 2 day face to face workshop +  finish the remainder of the course in 6 months online self paced study or study it Online at your own pace for up to 6 months.

On successful completion, you will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment. For registered Marriage Celebrants this counts towards your yearly OPD requirements.

This course includes the accredited unit CHCCEL008 Plan, Present and Evaluate Funeral and Memorial Ceremonies.  The achievement of the unit will result in the award of a Statement of Attainment.  For registered Marriage Celebrants this counts towards your yearly OPD requirements.

From the guide: All celebrants… (are) required to complete five hours OPD each calendar year unless they have applied for, and received, an exemption from the Registrar of Marriage Celebrants.

In other words for OPD to be counted it must be completed within the calendar year (between January 1 and December 31 in the same year)

This training equips students to work alongside funeral directors to assist with the details of the ceremony that need to be coordinated between the family and the funeral home.

After acquiring these skills, students may gain employment in

  • funeral homes, as a funeral celebrant
  • work as a contract celebrant.

The funeral celebrancy course is particularly beneficial to students who already have a celebrancy qualification and would like to expand on their current skill set.

Rose Training Australia Pre-paid fees statement

ASQA’s User’s Guide to the Standards 2015 (Standards) provides the following definition for prepaid fees:

‘Prepaid fees’ (sometimes referred to as ‘fees collected in advance’) means fees that are collected before the relevant services have been provided. These include payments made at any time before, during or after the student enrols. Any payment received before a service is delivered is unearned revenue and is a liability that must be paid back, either through service delivery or as a refund.

The Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015:

7.3 Where the RTO requires, either directly or through a third party, a prospective or current learner to prepay fees in excess of a total of $1500 (being the threshold prepaid fee amount), the RTO must meet the requirements set out in the Requirements for Fee Protection in Schedule 6.

We accept the commercial definition of pre-paid as being payment for services not yet received. Recruitment and enrolment are part of services already received and upon payment of fees students are given full access to all course material. With these considerations Rose Training Australia has calculated that at no time has the student pre-paid more than the allowable limit.
